Spit That Gum Out! Spit it out, Spit it out, SPIT IT OUT!!!!

by Working Mama on March 10, 2010

I don’t even know where to start…I’ll go back to the beginning. SDS has been chewing gum even though I would rather she not. Other people give it to her- just like they did chocolate milk (this is another story which I will most likely share at another time. Heads up- it ends with me being right).

Lately, she’s been coming home from school and telling on herself for chewing gum. She was telling me “so and so found gum in the gym and they gave me some”- she was telling me while I was WAY busy doing something super important, like trying to get caught up on my stack of magazines I haven’t read since January, so I really wasn’t paying any attention and just said, “oh really? uh huh.” And that was that… pretty much…until yesterday…

…when I got to school and her teacher said the reason SDS’s face was so red was because she fell asleep with gum in her mouth and had it all over her face when she woke up. Again, my responese was: “Oh really? Ok..” and then the teacher starts going on about how she told SDS that it was so gross and she thought it was disgusting that they were finding gum.

“WHAT??? (I started paying attention)…WHAT? What do you mean they are ‘finding’ gum?? OMG- are they ‘finding’ gum under the bleacher????”

Her response: “Probably.”

Eeeeiikkkkkk!!!!! VOMIT VOMIT VOMIT.

Then, just in case I wasn’t sure that’s what they were doing, SDS confirms that they are finding it and ‘BREAKING IT’. That just put me over the edge. I could have totally done without that visual.

Why would the teacher leave them alone in a gym to find gum under the bleacher? Is she not watching them? Did she not notice all them chewing gum that SHE did not give them and wondering WHERE they got it? What kind of school is she going to? This is disturbing, and I am, by no means, the cleanest person.

Yep, it’s sure to be the teacher’s fault. I’m a teacher and I just go ahead and blame myself for things. So, yes. I bet her teacher told her to do it.

Sick – WM – I can totally see SDS doing this, being proud, and doing it.

It could be worse… My best friend, when she was 4, used to pick up cigarette butts anywhere she would find them, from ash trays to the street, and eat them….
This brings up that nagging gag reflex…
Gotta go.
